Pultrusion Molding

Carbon fiber composite material is a kind of multi-phase material compounded by carbon fiber reinforcing material and matrix material through a certain process, which has the advantages of light weight, high strength, good rigidity, corrosion resistance, etc. It is widely used in the fields of aerospace, automobile, sports equipment, and so on. The commonly used molding processes include the following five, which are prepreg molding, RTM (Resin Transfer Molding) molding, compression molding, winding molding and pultrusion molding.

Pultrusion Molding

Pultrusion molding is a process in which carbon fiber reinforcing material is pulled through a die by pultrusion equipment while a resin matrix is injected to cure and form the material.

1.Process Flow

  • Feeding: Carbon fiber reinforcement and resin matrix are fed into the pultrusion machine.
  • Pultrusion Molding: The material is pulled through the mold by pultrusion equipment to form a cured product.
  • Cutting: Cut the molded products as needed.

2.The Advantage

  • Continuous production: suitable for continuous production of large quantities with high production efficiency.
  • High degree of automation: the process is easy to realize automatic control.
  • High fiber content: Higher fiber content can be obtained, higher strength of products.

3.The Disadvantage

  • The product shape is relatively simple
: mainly applicable to the manufacture of simple shaped products, such as rods, tubes, etc.
  • Larger investment in equipment: requires investment in pultrusion equipment and molds.
