Prepreg Molding PCM Molding

Carbon fiber composite material is a kind of multi-phase material compounded by carbon fiber reinforcing material and matrix material through a certain process, which has the advantages of light weight, high strength, good rigidity, corrosion resistance, etc. It is widely used in the fields of aerospace, automobile, sports equipment, and so on. The commonly used molding processes include the following five, which are prepreg molding, RTM (Resin Transfer Molding) molding, compression molding, winding molding and pultrusion molding.

Prepreg Molding PCM Molding

Prepreg molding is to pre-impregnate carbon fiber reinforcing material in resin matrix to form prepreg sheet, and then lay the prepreg sheet in the mold, after heating, pressurization and other process to make the resin matrix curing, so as to get carbon fiber composite products.

1.Process flow

  • Prepare the mold: Design and manufacture the mold according to the shape and size of the product.
  • Lay the prepreg: Lay the prepreg sheet in the mold in a certain order and direction.
  • Heating curing: the mold is placed in the heating equipment for heating curing, so that the resin matrix is cured.
  • Demolding and shaping: After the products are cured, demold and carry out the necessary shaping process.

2.The Advantage

  • High product quality: prepreg molding allows better control of fiber orientation and content, resulting in high-performance products.
  • Suitable for complex shapes: Products with complex shapes and structures can be manufactured.
  • Good process stability: the quality of prepreg is relatively stable and the molding process is easy to control.

3.The Disadvantage

  • Higher cost: The preparation and storage of prepregs requires a certain cost.
  • Long molding cycle: The heating and curing process takes a long time and the molding efficiency is relatively low.
